Bike Trip To Queen Of Hills - Mussoorie
Having a bike trip to Himalayan roads is a “Dream come true
“for every bike enthusiast. My group had been planning for this from past few
months. We desperately wanted to go somewhere on bike. Finally, after
brainstorming for months, we all came to a common decision and decided to
celebrate Christmas in mountains. For this we decided to go to Mussoorie, the
queen of hills and I believe there couldn’t be better place for this. It was the
month of December, freezing cold but nothing came in our way as we are were
determined.
Mussoorie is around 290 km away from Delhi and it takes
around 6-7 hours to reach. We decided to start early morning so that we can
reach there in evening and rest for the day.
Finally, the day has come we all gathered and started from
Dilshad garden Delhi. I was very excited as this was my first ever bike trip to
any destination outside Delhi and I was thrilled as well, as this was into
great Himalayas which everyone dreams of.
The journey begins, 2 Avengers , 1 RS 200 , 1 Apache 200 and
5 of us. I was filled with joy and excitement. Our bikes were loaded with
luggage and fuel.
Our first halt was Amrik Sukhdev Dhaba Sonipat. We took a halt there and had tummy full lunch there. We took a halt of around 30 minutes and we started again.
Finally, the moment has come for which I always dreamed of,
after riding around 150 or so Km’s I could easily see the great Himalaya’s. I
was thrilled. The road which led to these mountains has already pumped my
adrenalin. I was mesmerized by seeing the beauty of nature. We had mountains
one side and Valley another side. I was feeling the slash of pure air on my
whole body.
Finally, we reached Mussoorie. I felt every word true which
I had heard about this place. The place was so calm, so chill. I felt my soul
refreshed.
Note : if you go Mussoorie during any festival time please do bookings in advance.
In night the cottage owner arranged bonfire for us. As it
was freezing cold night this came as boon. We started playing soothing music,
ordered delicious food and enjoyed bonfire as well. It made whole environment
filled with vibrations. Everything looked perfect and refreshing.
Next day we woke up early in the morning and had awesome breakfast. Today we decided to explore Mussoorie and for this we choose to go to Gun hill. Gun Hill is the second highest point in the entire area of Mussoorie standing tall at an altitude of 2024 meters. the scene from the top of this hill is a panoramic view of the snow-clad Himalayan ranges right beside the widespread Doon Valley and a full view of the hill station of Mussoorie. The Gun Hill, located 400 ft above the Mall Road, is a popular attraction, especially amongst the photographers and nature lovers. The hill was named so because of the presence of a gun at these hills during the pre-independence days. The gun was fired during the day to enable people to adjust their watches during those days.
You can reach to top of Gun Hills either by walk of by a
ropeway car. We decided to climb up by walk.
It took 2-3 hours to reach to the peak and believe me when
you reach the top you feel so relaxed, you even forget the tiredness of
climbing up. It provides mesmerizing view of the city from the top. You can
even see the Great Himalayan’s mountain ranges from here clearly. We stayed
there for couple of hours, enjoyed food, beauty of nature as planned we took
rope-way car and came back.
we came back by cable car. Look at the view .wooooooh
In the afternoon we took rest and evening we decided to go
to mall road and explore the city. I can easily say that the mall road is the
lifeline of this city. This always remains the center of attraction for all the
tourists who come there. This road seems lively. We enjoyed local street food
and did shopping. There was some program held up as this was Christmas time, we
enjoyed that function as well. Lot’s of phadi people showcasing their culture,
music and heritage. It was so exciting and amazing.
We came back to our cottage late night and had our dinner. Next morning, we headed back to Delhi. Mussoorie Justifies the saying “ Queen of hills”.
